On November 13, the Ministry of Transport announced the first batch of pilot tasks for reducing costs and improving quality and efficiency in transportation logistics, with 18 pilot tasks selected. These pilots will lead the way in effectively reducing logistics costs across society and better supporting high-quality economic development. In recent years, efforts have been made to achieve the beautiful vision of 'people enjoying their travel and goods flowing smoothly.' The transportation logistics infrastructure network has been rapidly improved, the structure of comprehensive transportation has been continuously adjusted and optimized, the 'single order' and 'single container' systems for multimodal transport have been deeply promoted, innovative logistics transportation organization models have been continuously developed, and the international logistics channel network has been further improved. Various efforts to reduce costs and improve quality and efficiency in transportation logistics have achieved phased results. However, the development of transportation logistics in our country still faces some imbalances and inadequacies. To address various bottlenecks and institutional barriers that hinder the reduction of costs and improvement of quality and efficiency in transportation logistics, the Ministry of Transport has proposed to promote a shift from reducing costs in a single link to systematic and structural cost reduction; to promote a shift from merely reducing transportation costs to comprehensive cost reduction across the industrial chain; to promote a shift in transportation logistics development from focusing on hard connectivity to a coordinated effort between soft and hard connectivity; and to promote a shift in transportation logistics development from focusing more on domestic smoothness to facilitating efficient connectivity between domestic and international.
In the next steps, focusing on key tasks, the Ministry of Transport will accelerate the networking and strengthening of transportation logistics infrastructure, promote adjustments in transportation structure and the development of multimodal transport, facilitate integrated development of transportation logistics with upstream and downstream links, support the innovative development of new business formats and models such as smart logistics, accelerate the construction of a unified and open large market for transportation logistics, and expedite the establishment of an international logistics supply chain system, fully promoting the implementation and effectiveness of various tasks aimed at reducing costs and improving quality and efficiency in transportation logistics.
