On December 18, the launch meeting for the special pilot project to promote the high-quality development of the Jiang-Tie-Hai intermodal transport in the new western land-sea corridor was held in Nanning. This event was organized by the Department of Transportation of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the Chongqing Municipal Transportation Committee, and the Department of Transportation of Sichuan Province, with the Guangxi Beibu Gulf International Port Group Co., Ltd. as the host. The meeting aimed to implement the Ministry of Transport's requirements for reducing costs and improving quality in transportation logistics, and to ensure the smooth implementation of the special pilot tasks for building a strong transportation country.
Transportation logistics is a key area for effectively reducing logistics costs across society, playing a leading, foundational, and supportive role. Building a special pilot project to promote the high-quality development of the Jiang-Tie-Hai intermodal transport in the new western land-sea corridor is a crucial step for Guangxi to collaborate with provinces (regions, cities) along the corridor to jointly construct the new western land-sea corridor at a high level, enhancing the scale and operational quality of corridor logistics. The pilot will focus on five aspects: creating an intermodal organization system centered on the Pinglu Canal, promoting high-level construction of the new western land-sea corridor, establishing an efficient international logistics system aimed at ASEAN, deepening the application practices of the "one order system" and "one container system" in the new western land-sea corridor, and building a cross-border multimodal transport system starting from the western land-sea corridor. The goal is to achieve a number of nationally leading innovative practices in areas such as integrated and intelligent sea-rail intermodal transport, smart port construction, and the establishment of a container sharing and allocation system within two years, ensuring smooth transport along the entire eastern, central, and western corridors of the new western land-sea corridor, with the main body of the Pinglu Canal completed and rapidly demonstrating its role as a national strategic corridor in the conversion and connection of different transport modes such as river, rail, and sea. Significant progress has been made in the establishment of the China-ASEAN multimodal transport alliance.
In the next step, Guangxi will take the high-level construction of the new western land-sea corridor as a guide, actively collaborate with Chongqing and Sichuan to carry out various pilot tasks, build a multimodal transport network centered on the Pinglu Canal, research and construct the Jiang-Tie-Hai intermodal transport center and information platform for the new western land-sea corridor (Guangxi), promote high-quality development of multimodal transport, and achieve positive results in both "hard connectivity" of infrastructure and "soft connectivity" of institutional rules, thereby reducing logistics costs across society and accelerating the realization of the beautiful vision of "people enjoying their travel and goods flowing smoothly."
At the meeting, relevant personnel from the Transportation Service Department of the Ministry of Transport introduced the selection of the task to promote the high-quality development of the Jiang-Tie-Hai intermodal transport in the new western land-sea corridor as one of the first batch of national special pilot projects for reducing costs and improving quality in transportation logistics. Experts interpreted the strategy and related policies for reducing costs and improving quality in transportation logistics for building a strong transportation country. Representatives from pilot implementation enterprises such as Sichuan Port and Shipping Investment Group Co., Ltd., Land-Sea New Corridor Operation Co., Ltd., Guangxi Beibu Gulf International Port Group Co., Ltd., and Pinglu Canal Group Co., Ltd. made statements on project construction. Relevant personnel from the Department of Transportation of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the Chongqing Municipal Transportation Committee, and the Department of Transportation of Sichuan Province made exchange speeches.
The meeting was attended by relevant personnel from the General Office of the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and related district departments, the Transportation Service Department of the Ministry of Transport, the Scientific Research Institute of the Ministry of Transport, and relevant units and pilot implementation enterprises from Chongqing and Sichuan.
