Recently, the Qingdao Maritime Court held a press conference to publicly release the 2019 Chinese and English Maritime Trial White Paper and ten typical cases.

In 2019, the Qingdao Maritime Court accepted a total of 3,549 cases of various types, including 230 maritime tort cases, 1,399 maritime contract cases, 84 foreign-related maritime cases, 27 cases involving Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, 18 maritime administrative cases, 927 special maritime procedure cases, and 679 enforcement cases. A total of 4,491 cases were concluded throughout the year, including 341 maritime tort cases, 1,739 maritime contract cases, 182 foreign-related maritime cases, 51 cases involving Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, 21 maritime administrative cases, 1,146 special maritime procedure cases, and 954 enforcement cases. A total of 125 vessels were detained, and 83 vessels were auctioned. The amount involved in the cases was 3.3 billion yuan, covering more than 20 countries and regions, 27 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions in China, and 16 cities in our province, involving the world's four major shipping companies, over 10 large state-owned port and shipping enterprises, and more than 20 domestic and foreign financial and insurance institutions, with increasingly far-reaching external impacts.

The ten typical cases released involve aspects such as vessel detention, marine natural resources and ecological environment protection, marine insurance, shipbuilding, time chartering, maritime cargo transportation, port services, cargo damage compensation, and the application and enforcement of foreign judgments, comprehensively reflecting the scope and characteristics of cases under the jurisdiction of the maritime court, and timely responding to the public's need for information on maritime justice, providing demonstration guidance for maritime economic entities in handling similar cases and preventing legal risks.
